The Journey to Wellness with Megan Nash, Holistic Nutrition Health Coach

This week we interviewed Megan Nash, a holistic health coach that moved from her corporate job into a role that suited her best - helping others.

Megan, tell us a little bit about yourself. How did you end up becoming a health coach?

I am a holistic health coach and I work one on one with clients to help them reach their health goals. My mission is to help others find the root cause of their symptoms and help them build healthy nutritional and lifestyle habits so they can feel their best. I first got into this when I ran into some health struggles in my early 20s. I developed fatigue, digestive issues, joint pain, and leaky gut that kept me from living at my best. I quickly learned the importance of self care, proper nutrition, supplements and a holistic approach to overall wellness. After experiencing how much these things helped me heal, I wanted to share this knowledge and experience with others. My hope is that by taking a holistic approach to health and nutrition, the clients I can work with can create sustainable habits.

Was there a moment in time where you knew you needed to make a change?

Nutrition and health has always been a passion of mine, and after experiencing the power of food as medicine first hand, I knew I wanted to dive deeper and make this into my career. I took a major leap when I quit my corporate job, enrolled in a nutrition program, and eventually started my nutrition health coaching business. It was one of the best decisions of my life and I am so grateful for the opportunity to spread knowledge about nutrition and wellness.

It's definitely scary to leave a steady job and pay to run after something you're passionate about. How do you come up with your recipes? Is there a certain person you target?

During this journey, I discovered that I was intolerant to gluten, dairy and eggs. This was very difficult at first, because I was forced to give up many of the foods I enjoy, but it was worth it for how much better I felt without them. I have always loved baking and cooking, and this was a fun opportunity for me to get creative in the kitchen. I now love to share my allergy-friendly recipes in hopes that I can help others who have similar sensitivities or just want to adopt a healthier lifestyle. I love to recreate my favorite meals into an allergy friendly free version -  some of my favorites include spinach artichoke dip, honey sesame chicken and chocolate fudge brownies. They are super easy to make and just as delicious!

Yum! So, what's the vision for yourself on this journey - a goal you have, or something you want to achieve?

I’ve learned that what you eat and how you take care of yourself can have a huge impact on many aspects of your daily life, like your job, relationships, and social life. As a health coach, I hope to help as many people as possible find what makes them feel their absolute best. My vision is to grow my nutrition practice and be able to impact more and more people each day.

I love that. Do you have a routine that you swear by to feel your absolute best?

My morning routine is super important to me. I notice that I show up more calm, energized and focused when I stick to it. I usually wake up, drink a ton of water, and immediately go to my couch to start my journaling, devotional and meditation. I try my very best not to check my phone before this (which is super hard) but I found that it helps so much when I am not immediately diving into texts, emails and social media. I then try to get some sort of movement in- this is so helpful when I am sitting in front of my computer most of the day!

I'm still working on that myself... Is there a podcast / favorite book / favorite show you recommend in place of being on your phone?

I love podcasts. My favorites are The Skinny Confidential, The Blonde Files, Be Well By Kelly and The Art of Being Well with Dr. Will Cole. I have learned so much valuable information from podcasts! They are so easy to turn on whenever I am taking a quick walk, sitting in my infrared sauna, cooking dinner or driving.

And finally, where can people find you?
